What is acroyoga?

Acro Yoga Positions

It is a kind of yoga and acrobatics performed with a partner. It’s a one-of-a-kind workout that employs gravity and body weight to build and stretch your muscles while managing your breathing. One notable advantage of acro yoga is that it enhances physical talents and coordination. It entails engaging with your partner and developing trust in order to help each other through various positions. Unlike solitary yoga, acro yoga emphasizes communication and teamwork. It promotes regular verbal communication and collaboration in order to generate a smooth flow of activity. Acro yoga is a joyful and energizing practice that mixes movement, play, and connection to create a unique experience.

What are the benefits of acroyoga?

Here are some of the possible benefits of incorporating acro yoga into your exercise routine:

1. Improves balance and coordination.

It requires practitioners to maintain balance during multiple positions and transitions, therefore developing their proprioception (the sense that helps you to perceive your body’s location, movement, and action), balance, and coordination.

2. Increases self-confidence in self and others.

“Boosting your self-esteem and developing trust in your spouse are critical components of every partnership. Acro yoga may help you enhance these skills by using movements like acceleration, deceleration, stability, and subtle transitions. When practicing it,  couples work as a team and move in harmony, much like a swan gracefully transitions from one action to the next,” explains Yoga Expert Dr Mickey Mehta.

3. Improves upper body and core strength.

When flying, the base supports the flyer’s weight while the flyer maintains balance and control using their arms, shoulders, and core muscles. This helps flyers develop upper-body and core strength as they perform numerous positions and transitions.

4. Develop awareness and presence.

It requires practitioners to be completely aware of their body, breath, and partner. This mindfulness practice promotes awareness, attention, and mindfulness.

5. Minimizes stress

Benefits of Acro Yoga

When one partner raises the other off the earth, the lifted partner must develop confidence and let go of any worries or rigidity in their body. They should hang loose and enjoy the sensation of being off the earth and free of gravity, feeling liberated and exhilarated. This sensation can foster a sense of belonging in that location, allowing one to be free, flowing, and floating, eventually leading to a stress-free condition.
